about eatbooks

Eatbooks is a publishing house and quarterly onlne literary journal featuring the highest quality short literary fiction. It is a space for lovers of good writing to meet new and established authors.

Eatbooks is the result of a creative partnership between Christopher Currie and Krissy Kneen, both authors and lovers of literature. After years of working together at Brisbane's Avid Reader Bookshop, they observed that the major publishing houses were finding it more and more difficult to publish a healthy literary fiction list. In an effort to address this worrying trend, Eatbooks was born.

Our first online journal contains short stories from Avid Reader's extended family, which just happens to include some of Australia's most celebrated authors, and some emerging voices soon to join them.

submissions

Eatbooks will continue to look for fiction submissions for each of its quarterly editions. We are looking for high quality literary fiction (see this month's edition as a guide).

No genre submissions will be accepted, unless they are of a high literary standard.

Submissions should be no longer than 3000 words, and must be submitted to our PO Box as hard copy, double spaced, single sided, with page numbers.

Deadline for Edition 2 is August 1, 2007.

Issue 2 will feature the winners of a competitive selective round. The first place and four runners up will receive prizes of books generously donated by the quality publishing house Thames and Hudson, as well as publication in issue 2 of the online literary journal.

Please include a cover page with your name and contact details, including email. Do not include your name or details on your actual submission. Manuscripts will not be returned but confirmation of receipt will be given if a stamped self addressed envalope is included.

We will accept work that has been previously published, as long as it is not infringing copyright to publish it on Eatbooks.
